Oh Leviticus.
THIS POST IS AN OPINION.
That's the first thing I want all of you people, who will eventually attack this post and hail it ungodly, to know. I basically finally want to talk about how weird Leviticus is. Understand this- I was born and raised Roman Catholic. This opinion is neither that of the Catholic church, nor that of the faith, nor that of the Christians or whoever else you may tie to this.

I repeat. Here's the disclaimer. It's my opinion.
So. Leviticus is a well known book, for only 2 of it's verses. Namely-
So. Leviticus is a well known book, for only 2 of it's verses. Namely-
LV19.18 "Love your neighbours as you Love yourself" and more importantly to the whole world:
LV18.22 "No Man is to have Sexual Relations with Another man; God hates that." (I'm literally not kidding I'm typing these off a bible and I'm rather surprised to see that it's explicitly said as Hate.)
Now, it could very well be a human fault. A defect (in a sense) much like greed that some people commit this "Sin". Then again, it falls right in with Many, Many other "sins" that you really won't know about, unless I start typing them out. (I'm looking out for the queer ones to me, and I'll be pointing them out shortly.) I do understand why people have been carrying around this evil on their breast that "God HATES Homosexuals" I see that now. I'm surprised because I was brought up believing that God loves us all. Faults and all. Humans imperfect, despite being created in his image. I still support Homosexuality, on the basis that I want (Yes. I WANT. ) to believe that God Loves everybody, past whatever they do and their choice in Love or whatever. If you can Love another person, as far as I'm concerned, why not. I remember asking this one time during the confirmation class, but I don't remember getting an answer. At least, not a clear one.

So whatever above, was my take on all this God-calling. So let it be a notice to all those who are not well versed with the fact that in the Bible it literally says "God Hates that". So let whoever wants to rant about homosexuality say that "God Hates that", because it's fair. It's there. If you'd like, you can take my stand and choose to believe that God loves us all, faults and whatever. That's why he forgives us and absolves us. In a sense, I choose to continue believing in his Love because it keeps me going, somehow, anyway. I'm a pretty shitty liberal catholic. I know that much. But I do not want God's hate to become mine, and to go against Loving my neighbour as myself. It's conflicting. So I choose the better of two evils- Ignore the fact that God hates homosexuality, and embrace every person I meet with an open mind and heart. After all, the line I know better is "Love you neighbour as you love yourself."
So. What other queer things are there in Leviticus? I can tell you, there is a LOT.

- NO PORK. That's right. Christians, no bacon for you either because you're not supposed to eat a pig. (Lv11.7) "Do not eat pigs, they must be considered unclean."
- Touched a mole, rat, mice or a Lizard? Dead OR alive? Kaboom. Unclean till evening. (Lv11.29-31)
- And you know something? "if their Dead Bodies fall on anything, it will be unclean." (Lv11.32)
- To purify the above, you have to soak whatever it is in water, and again it will be unclean till evening. (Imagine soaking your floor...)
- To all the dudes out there- You were supposed to be circumcised on the 8th Day of your birth (ouch) LV12.3
- HAHAHAH Okay guys go read Lv15.1-18. It's too...weird to type really just go see it.
- If you so much as touch a woman on her period you are unclean till evening. (Lv15.19) Would be a nightmare of Co-ed Schools, I'm sure.
- Following that, if you so much as sit where she sat or whatever, you're unclean too! (till evening)
- As repentance for a period, you were supposed to get 2 pigeons, and submit them for burning. One as a Sin offering, and one as a burn offering.
Okay I've really said my piece here. But if you're looking to stare at a bible in shock for a while, Leviticus is really one to be reckoned with. The book is literally a regulation book. It has specific Grain offerings and fellowship offerings and offerings for unintentional sins and repayment offerings and there's just so much to read. Rules for priests, Animals that may be eaten, Laws concerning skin diseases, concerning MILDEW, concerning unclean bodily discharges, forbidden sexual practices (Incest is here), Penalties for disobedience- I mean really I know that these were laws used in Ancient Israel, so they've stopped (?) enforcing them. Then again. Why aren't all things followed, right? it's a little of a grey area. Hopefully the second half has left you with a little of a giggle.
xoxo
